Lord Swaminarayan established Shree Swaminarayan Gadi in India in the 18th Century. Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa led the faith through the best part of the Twentieth Century. He toured all over India, as well as East Africa, United Kingdom and America establishing Swaminarayan Temples. In 1970, he visited His followers in England and a procession was held in the streets of Central London, culminating in a service and religious concert in Trafalgar Square. A Scottish pipe band was hired to lead the procession and His Holiness Swamibapa, upon hearing the pipe music, liked the sound so much that at His special request and blessing the devotees of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, London, formed a pipe band with the Bolton band, Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band following in 2002. With two more pipe bands in Nairobi and the US, on the 11th October 2015, all four were renamed as Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Bands under the directorship of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
